Preston Scott auction nets city $57,000

In order to recoup some of the more than $120,000 the now defunct Preston Scott Design with Flowers owed the city in back rent, an auction of the store's inventory and fixtures was held Dec. 19. The net proceeds from the event are $57,000.

Approximately 35 people attended, including several local merchants, many of whom bid on items.  With the exception of several high end items, the inventory and fixtures were sold in lots, with most lots being sold to other merchants.

After nearly 20 years in business in Coral Gables, Preston Scott Design closed in August. When the store closed the owners left the contents of their store in a retail space leased from the city, which is located on the street level of Parking Garage No. 2 at Aragon Avenue and Ponce de Leone Boulevard.
