An irate coed who pitched a fit over making lane

An irate coed who pitched a fit over making multiple lane changes was enough to bring police presence to a local university gym at 2:25 p.m., Aug. 10. Gables’ finest were summoned to 1241 Dickinson Dr. in reference to a disturbance with a pool patron refusing to leave the premises. An employee of the University of Miami’s Wellness Center met with officers on the scene and relayed to them that the incident started during a pool cleaning. The man told police that he was cleaning the pool and had asked several swimmers to move lanes in order to clean any debris on the bottom of the pool - and they complied. Once the attendant finished with the original section, he again asked the swimmers to move lanes. While two of the swimmers complied with his request, the young medical student began allegedly yelling at him. While the attendant asked the woman to leave the facility, the coed pushed on and ignored his direction. After calling in the irate swimmer to campus police, officers were able to persuade the young woman out of the pool, into the locker room and then out of the facility. According to police accounts, the woman was argumentative the entire time. Due to her actions inside and outside the pool, police issued the young woman a trespassing warning for the Wellness Center.

Simple threats by a not-so-happy former client were enough for a local law firm to get police involved at 2:42 p.m., Aug. 10. An assistant to Bram Gechtman, 34, of the Downs Brill Whitehead Law Firm located at 55 Miracle Mile summoned police to her location after receiving a disturbing call. The assistant told police that Michael Owens, 50, a former workers-comp client, had allegedly called her office on three separate occasions and stated that he was going to kill people there.  The assistant also relayed that Owens had been calling the law firm due to the fact he was less than happy about the outcome of his case in court.  The woman advised police that during Owen’s last call he allegedly stated that he was in the area and he was going to " f*ck up Bram" and added, "I going to leave a lot of mother-f*ckin dead bodies there." A police canvas of the area for Owens yielded negative results. The assistant was given a case card.

Lowlife(s) unknown broke into a local woman’s home and stole some of her prized possessions between 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., Aug. 11. Janice Gordillo, 67, raised the alarm and sent for police help at her home located at 824 Majorca Ave. after realizing she had been robbed. Once on the scene, officers determined that the lowlife(s) unknown pried the deadbolt lock on an exterior door which then gave access to an interior door which was also dead-bolted. After prying through the second door, the lowlife(s) unknown went into the master bedroom, removed a pillowcase, and stole various pieces of jewelry. Garillo told police that her $5,000 diamond ring was removed during the heist.  Crime scene investigators processed the scene and Gordillo was given a case card.

Someone ruthlessly removed a man’s Baja Panty between 4 p.m., Aug. 11 and 6 p.m., Aug. 17. Eduardo Barba, 30, called police to the marina located at 90 Edgewater Dr.  after he went down to the docks to  check on his beloved  29’ Intrepid boat aptly named Baja Panty - but it was nowhere to be found. Barba told police that he last saw the boat in its slip facing north.  Barba also relayed to officers that he did not leave the keys in the boat. Investigators told Barba he would have to follow up with marine patrol.
