The 2008 Junior Orange Bowl Parade announces float winners

           

The Junior Orange Bowl Committee has announced this year’s float winners. The 2008 Junior Orange Bowl Parade took place in downtown Coral Gables on Dec. 30.

           

The Float Judges were :Terry Eden Best, President & CEO, Bank of Coral Gables; Laura Bruney, Executive Director, The Arts & Business Council of Miami-Dade; Gene Cokecroft, Staging Chair, “King” Orange Bowl Committee; Bobbie Ibarra, Vice President, Jungle Island; Peter J. O’Connell, Staging Veteren, “King” Orange Bowl Committee and Lisa Palley, President, Palley Promotes.

 

The 2008 Junior Orange Bowl Parade Float Winners:

           

1. Bank of Coral Gables Best Community Float Grand Prize Winner – Shake-A-Leg Miami

           

2. Bank of Coral Gables Best Community Float President’s Choice Award – Dalmatian Rescue

           

3. Best Humor or Animation – Miami Dragon Boat Festival

           

4. Best Commercial Design – City of Coral Gables

           

5. Best Use of Parade Theme – Homestead Rodeo Association

           

6. Special Recognition – Junior Orange Bowl Events

           

7. Best Youth Enthusiasm – SuperWheels Skating Center

           

8. Best Use of Lights – City of Hialeah

           

In addition to the Parade Grand Marshal Obie, spectators saw a variety of recognizable faces throughout the event including the Junior Orange Bowl’s own mascot, Jobie, WPLG channel 10 news reporter Laurie Jennings and her twin sons, serving as Honorary Grand Marshal and Ron Magill of Miami MetroZoo.
